YOGA FOUNDATIONS: An Uncomplicated Guide to Your Yoga Journey

Yoga is different from other forms or exercise, because it is not just exercise.

YOGA IS A SELF-REGULATION PRACTICE!

This brings up TWO QUESTIONS:

HOW DOES THIS SELF-REGULATION WORK?

YOGA works with the exploration of three dimensions:

  1. The body

  2. The mind

  3. The energy (or spirit, or whatever you want to call it)

Keeping in mind that yoga believes that these are not separate, so when we move one of these dimensions we are also creating an effect on the other dimensions.

HOW SHOULD I PRACTICE YOGA?

YOGA has in its tool box:

  1. ASANA (movement)

  2. MEDITATION (focus and concentration)

  3. PRANAYAMA (movement and control of your breathe)

  4. ETHICAL GUIDELINES (yamas and niyamas)

Some tools might resonate with you more than others and most likely will change throughout your  life. So some practices you might be more focused on strengthening your core, other’s on quieting your mind and others on holding space for your emotions.

This is what makes yoga so amazing,

it is a 360 degree road map to yourself!

So let’s welcome and put into practice these dimensions and tools with the
